For Sale: 2007 Deering Tenbrooks Saratoga Star

"Crisp Maple with a brilliant full bodied tone, deep bass, brilliant highs, The Saratoga Star is one of the most elegantly beautiful modern banjos to enter the musical arena of classic instruments. Greg Deering personally designed the inlays with an Art Nouveau style in mind. Reminiscent of the Victorian Era, this high grade maple banjo stands out as a top of the line professional instrument, at home on the concert stages throughout the world. It is played by world renowned banjoists like Bela Fleck, 2007 IBMA Banjo Player of the Year - Tony Trischka, Joe Bonsal of the Oak Ridge Boys, and Ned Luberecki". - quoted from deering website

After six months of research, I purchased this instrument new in 2008 after playing a Gibson for five years, and this instrument really raised the level of my playing because of its sustain, responsiveness and feel. If you are serious about your playing and want the very best, the Saratoga Star is one of the top banjos made today, in my opinion.

A unique thing on this banjo is it has an unplated '06 tone ring installed by Deering when new. Most '06 tonerings are nickle plated. Ned Lubrecki first noticed this and mentioned that I look into it with Deering. Deering came back and said that this banjo was originally setup for the 2007 NAM convention.

The finish on the neck was professionally removed which is commonly done to the mandolins, violins, and other string instruments to provide quicker up the neck speed. Especially if you have moist hands, they will not stick on the finish.

Included in this sale is a Fishman active pickup ($169.00), a Nechville exotic wood arm rest ($79.00) and Paige capo. I have the original arm rest that will go with the sale. Also included in this sale is a Guardian "Professional" fiberglass case. This is the thicker, more expensive case and will allow you to check your instrument in at the airport without having to worry. The case was purchased in 2010 and lists for $399.00. I do have the original case that I will ship separately at buyer's cost.

This instrument has been adult owned, carefully taken care of, always cleaned and returned to its case after use. There are no dings, dents or chips.

I am selling this banjo because I am moving on to other musical genres.
