70's Alvarez masterclone blue grass banjo
Made in Japan - Probably a model 4282
Reputed to be one of the best sounding of the Asian imports
All 5 tuners have been replaced with modern high quality tuners
I installed one of my mahogany block rims and one of my wood mastertone size drop in tone rings

The banjo now weighs about 8 1/2 lb - not a lot more than many open backs
But the sound is equal in volume and tone tone to most full weight blue grass banjos. Sounds almost as good (to me) as a Fawley Retrotone that I had for sale.
A sound sample is on it's way - later
Original tone ring weighed 2 lbs 12 oz - my wood tone ring weighs 8 oz
Almost no fret wear. Neck is in almost perfect condition - amazing for being 40 years old. The resonator has some scratches on the back.
Comes with the original hard case - the typical Japanese case of the era. A few dings on the outside, but almost perfect on the inside. Even has a key!
Three day approval period. If you return it. you pay shipping both ways.
Got a bad back? This is the practice banjo for you!
